About suspension notices

What is an FMCSA suspension notice?

When a carrier’s required filing is missing, usually proof of liability insurance after a policy is cancelled, FMCSA serves a notice that its operating authority will be suspended on a set date. If a new filing is on record by then, the suspension doesn’t happen.

How long does a carrier have?

The effective date is on the notice. In recent FMCSA records it is usually about 30 days after the notice is served. This checker shows the exact date and the days left.

How do I stop the suspension?

Get the missing filing on record before the deadline. For insurance, an insurer files proof of coverage with FMCSA electronically (form BMC-91 or BMC-91X). Ask an agent who writes trucking to quote and file quickly.

Where does this data come from?
